Research Interests

The laboratory examines the structure and function of neural circuits in the retina. The general approach is to study specific cell types that can be readily identified and routinely recorded from. The goal is to elucidate the synaptic circuitry and biophysical mechanisms that underlie the physiological receptive field properties of retinal neurons. Experimental techniques include patch-clamp recording, anatomical reconstruction, immunohistochemical analysis, computer modelling, and optogenetic approaches.
